The Georgia Bulldogs and Michigan Wolverines are two of the most prominent college football programs around, but have the two blues ever played together?
With the way Georgia Bulldogs and the Michigan Wolverines are two of college football’s most prominent shows, it’s fair to imagine that they’ve faced each other a few times. Be it in a bowl game or neutral site meeting to kick off a season, that would be reasonable to expect. However, there is not too much history with the meeting of these two teams.
It’s been a long time since both have been played and it’s only happened twice. To be a little more precise, Georgia and Michigan last met more than half a century ago.
Georgia vs. Michigan: Have the Bulldogs and Wolverines ever played together?
In 1965, Vince Dooley’s second season leading the Bulldogs, Georgia took a trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan to take on the Wolverines. Although Georgia lost on the previous trip north to face Michigan, this matchup will end up being a little better for the Bulldogs as Dooley can come on and lead Georgia to a 15-7 win.
The win was one of the highlights of Georgia’s 1965 season as Michigan was placed in the 7th team at the time. Things turned tough for the Bulldogs as they lost four of their last six games to end the year 6-4.
Michigan and Georgia first met 8 years ago during the 1957 season. In that game, Michigan hosted the Bulldogs and was able to take care of Georgia without any problems. The Bulldogs were beaten pretty badly as they lost 26-0.
Now, the two teams will meet for the third time. The stakes are pretty high on this match that will act as the draw decider for the series between Georgia and Michigan.
