Harry Caray’s hologram in Field of Dreams game lights Cubs, MLB Twitter on fire

While the MLB Field of Dreams game is steeped in nostalgia, having a hologram of Harry Caray singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” was a bit much.
One of the most beautiful things about the MLB game of Field of Dreams is the effort that the league and the teams involved make to make it feel like a true throwback. The old uniforms, seeing Ken Griffey Jr. and Sr. play tagand much more will fill fans and players alike with nostalgia.
With the Chicago Cubs taking on the Cincinnati Reds in Thursday night’s 2022 edition of the game, it was fitting that the late broadcast great Harry Caray was honored. The only problem is that FOX and Major League Baseball may have gone a bit too far trying to include them Boys Legend.
During the seventh inning stretch, the show (and presumably the park, too) had a Harry Caray hologram come out and sing the legendary “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” as he did so often at Wrigley Field.

Fans were already talking about the MLB game Field of Dreams, but that really got them buzzing, and not really in a great way.
Again, honoring Caray on this stage and in this moment was the right move for baseball. But that probably wasn’t the right way. An old audio clip of Caray singing the classic Ballpark tune would have sufficed.
Good job MLB. A way to turn a good moment into an awkward one. Luckily, nothing can completely ruin a good baseball game in a cornfield.
