Halo Infinite Update is so extensive that a table of contents is required

Halo infinityThe second season of started today, bringing a handful of new maps, modes and visuals to the popular multiplayer shooter. Developer 343 Industries has detailed all the minor changes in Patch notes that are so long They come with a table of contents consisting of six chapters.
They are so long that you – by that I mean my colleague Zack Zwiezen, thanks Zack! – can make a GIF out of it:
Some of the stuff in it isn’t news. We knew that, for example Halo infinity‘s second season would add a variety of modes – King of the Hill, the return of attritionand the introduction of the Battle Royale-ish Last Spartan Standing-From day one. We also knew it would nerf the arguably overpowered but fun Mangler into the ground, a decision pros are excited about but one I’ll never recover from.
But we just didn’t know how bad 343 would nerf it. In addition to reduced melee damage, ammo stocks have also been reduced by 25 percent. On the plus side, the Ravager, which 343 previously said is considering an upgrade, has been made useful: you can now kill enemies with two standard shots. And the weapon’s alternate fire, a type of charged salvo, is now more than twice as powerful.
Halo infinityThe least useful vehicles of have also been seriously improved. First, the Banshee, a weak, difficult-to-control aircraft often jokingly referred to as the “Badshee” by players, has received a complete overhaul. You actually have control over its speed now. The cooldown on his bomb and his standard plasma cannon have been reduced. The chopper is stronger on land too: you can destroy any vehicle (well, except a tank) by ramming the chopper’s grille into it. Speaking of vehicles, bots now appear to automatically board as “either passengers or gunners.”
yes they will even more human.
Equipment has also received a handful of upgrades to keep players alive longer. One of the most valuable pieces of gear in the campaign, the Portable Fall Wall now spawns faster and absorbs more damage. And the Overshield, which is already damn powerful, now adds a full half shield bar to what it already added.
All of these changes come on top of a handful of notable quality of life improvements:
- You can now adjust the thickness of player outlines – a huge boon for visually impaired or visually impaired players.
- Rocket Launcher no longer takes 47 seconds to toggle. (Also, firing at a warthog’s windshield no longer deals bonus damage.)
- If you board an enemy tank, placing a grenade will instantly kill the pilot.
- For the 11 of you who have complained, the left shoulder pad of the hyper-specific Jorge 052 armor kit now shows the correct texture.
For the most part, the changes are more than welcome. But the update has already upset some corners Halo infinity‘s most engaged community, thanks to two erroneous lines: “Speed gained by landing in a slide on a ramp is reduced proportionally to fall height” and “Remove or adjust collision on small supports and thin ledges”.
In other words, Halo infinityThe so-called “Skill Jumps,” which essentially use unofficial movement tricks to dash across the map, are now in limbo. For example, on the street map, you could jump onto what appears to be a purely cosmetic awning and climb a path that would otherwise require a loop halfway around the map. (Optic Gaming’s Tommy “Lucid” Wilson used this trick many times with great success in this weekend’s exciting games Major of HCS Kansas City Championship event for Halo infinity.) This is apparently no more. Others, like a switch box that served as a ledge on the Live Fire map, are gone too.
Halo infinityThe best players of are overwhelmed by the change. “Want 343 gloriole Failure?” a player asked in a tweet about removing skill jumps. Other called the choice “amazing”. That gloriole eSports commentator Alexander “Shyway” Hope, who specializes in finding and detailing such skill jumps, tweeted that the move was “extremely disappointing” and called for 343 to have a public discussion with players about it.
Even if skill jumps don’t come back, players will no doubt find new traversal tricks and even more creative ways to make the most of the season in the days and weeks to come. In the meantime you can Read the entire patch notes for the season here. bring bookmarks.
