Guild Wars 2: Sky Pirates Update Explained: Storyline, Achievements, and More
Guild Wars 2 has always been a game that went at its own pace. After the success of Guild Wars 2’s third expansion, End of Dragons, the MMORPG decided to take a bold step. While coming to terms with the past isn’t generally the most successful idea, Guild Wars 2 decided that reimagining the very first Living World story was something players desperately needed. The first of these new mini-seasons started on April 19th. Following the story of two of the Commander’s most important companions, Braham, Rox, and their pet Frostbite, players were transported back in time to the origins of their friendship with these two dynamic characters.
Old faces in old places in Guild Wars 2: Sky Pirates
The second part, Sky Pirates, introduces players to this Aetherblades. While the Aetherblades are not an unfamiliar concept to most, their prominent role in End of Dragons history and the recalls to them scattered throughout much of Kryta indicate the reasons for most resentment against them. It also reintroduces the legendary Captain Mai Trin and gives players a chance to experience it as it was in the first Living World season.
Players can expect to see some old and new faces and the very nostalgic look of the old lion stone. Of course, new players won’t remember the old port city, as it was rebuilt as a partial ruin after some time, although it was briefly visible in the main story. However, older players will get a special kick when they see the old towers, turrets and of course the old fortress.
Achievements in Guild Wars 2: Sky Pirates
Along with old sights there are a number of new achievements. There’s a lot of AP to gain this time, and players can look forward to some nice unlocks once they complete certain achievements. However, unlike Flame and Frost, there doesn’t appear to be any unlockable titles this time, but players can look forward to the following items that can be obtained by completing the achievements.
- Sky Pirates Mastery: Completing this will unlock the aether sight, the ultimate outward expression of your inner steampunk sky pirate. It also unlocks one Exotic level Aetherblade Signet Ring with some fun flavor text.
- Against the Aetherblades: Completing this achievement will grant you a total of 50 AP plus a Miniature First Mate Horrik for your miniature collection.
- Case Complete: Completing this grants you 5 AP and, more importantly, one free one Bag with 20 compartments for your inventory. The bag has a name Majory’s tool belt and, like the ring, comes with an excellent flavor text. Also, it’s free storage space.
Something fractal Related achievements are unlocked as players complete the final section of the chapter for added fun. In addition, players can end that as well Ceremony and Bitterness (2013) Achievement that was previously locked. Finally, the AP you might need for your achievement chest is one step closer, and completers can breathe a sigh of relief.
