Guild Wars 2: Sky Pirates Update Explained: Storyline, Achievements, and More

Guild Wars 2 has always been a game that went at its own pace. After the success of Guild Wars 2’s third expansion, End of Dragons, the MMORPG decided to take a bold step. While coming to terms with the past isn’t generally the most successful idea, Guild Wars 2 decided that reimagining the very first Living World story was something players desperately needed. The first of these new mini-seasons started on April 19th. Following the story of two of the Commander’s most important companions, Braham, Rox, and their pet Frostbite, players were transported back in time to the origins of their friendship with these two dynamic characters.

Old faces in old places in Guild Wars 2: Sky Pirates

The second part, Sky Pirates, introduces players to this Aetherblades. While the Aetherblades are not an unfamiliar concept to most, their prominent role in End of Dragons history and the recalls to them scattered throughout much of Kryta indicate the reasons for most resentment against them. It also reintroduces the legendary Captain Mai Trin and gives players a chance to experience it as it was in the first Living World season.

Players can expect to see some old and new faces and the very nostalgic look of the old lion stone. Of course, new players won’t remember the old port city, as it was rebuilt as a partial ruin after some time, although it was briefly visible in the main story. However, older players will get a special kick when they see the old towers, turrets and of course the old fortress.

Achievements in Guild Wars 2: Sky Pirates

Along with old sights there are a number of new achievements. There’s a lot of AP to gain this time, and players can look forward to some nice unlocks once they complete certain achievements. However, unlike Flame and Frost, there doesn’t appear to be any unlockable titles this time, but players can look forward to the following items that can be obtained by completing the achievements.
