Grizzlies’ Dillon Brooks has been fined a hefty $35,000 by the NBA for shoving the cameraman in Wild Game vs. Heat

The NBA announced Friday that Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Dillon Brooks has been fined $35,000 for pushing a cameraman at a recent game against the Miami Heat.
The incident happened in the second quarter of the game when Brooks attempted but missed a three-pointer. He then got frustrated when a cameraman got in his way, so he pushed him to the ground. Although the cameraman was not injured, the NBA decided to fine Brooks for his unsportsmanlike conduct.

Brooks seems to be making headlines lately for all the wrong reasons. Just a few weeks ago, he was suspended for a game without pay after his 16th technical foul of the season. NBA rules dictate that players who rack up 16 technical fouls will be automatically suspended for a game. Additionally, players will receive a one-game ban for every two technical fouls earned thereafter.
Brooks currently leads the league in technical fouls. Fans may also remember his recent altercation with Golden State Warriors Draymond Green. The Brooks controversy seems to have no end.
What’s wrong with Dillon Brooks?
At 27, Brooks is one of the most controversial players in the NBA. A tough defender with a brazen mouth, he has made himself popular with Grizzlies fans. However, it’s safe to say that Memphis is the only place where Brooks is very popular. His recent misjudgment will only serve to cement his reputation as a problem player.
Brooks’ incident with the cameraman happened in the second quarter with less than three minutes to go. John Konchar claimed the offensive rebound but lost his balance and was only able to throw the ball back into play. Brooks, who had been chasing the ball, failed to catch it and took his frustration out on the cameraman. Although he was not penalized for his in-game actions, the NBA’s decision to penalize him shows that the league takes unsportsmanlike conduct seriously.
It’s unclear if Brooks will learn from his mistakes and clean up his act. He seems to have a penchant for getting into trouble and his recent fine only adds to his growing list of infractions. As one of the league’s most controversial players, Brooks has a lot to prove if he’s going to be taken seriously as a professional athlete. However, if he continues to behave inappropriately, he may find himself out of a job sooner rather than later.
