Green Demons in the LPGA Compendium from 2021

DURHAM – The LPGA 2021 campaign ended recently, with the former Duke women’s golfers having had excellent seasons in the tournament. Blue Devil stars Celine Boutier, Leona Maguire, Yu Liu, Brittany Lang, Lindy Duncan and Ana Belac about the professional ring in the past year.

The six green devils combined earned $2,597,840 on the 2021 tour. Boutier led the way with earnings of $1,023,784, placing 15th on the LPGA Tour’s earnings list. Maguire is 19th on the ledger with $885,141, while Liu ($333,885), Lang ($133,887), Belac ($116,832) and Duncan ($104,311) all make the top 111 of the list. .

When looking at LPGA stats from 2021, many Blue Devils have placed in the top 40 of the rankings –

• Maguire ranked 31st in driving accuracy with 77.6 percent.
• Belac averaged 263,296 tee-ups to rank 37th.
• Regarding green vegetables in regulations, Boutier ranked 22nd (74.2%) and Maguire ranked 23rd (74.1%).
• Maguire ranked 11th in terms of placings per green in regulation (1,757), while Boutier ranked 30th (1,784).
• Maguire ranked 21st in average (29.60).
• In the sandbar, Liu ranked 14th with 53.57 percent, while Duncan ranked 25th (50.94%), Maguire 26th (50.69%) and Boutier 33rd (49.33%).
• Maguire ranked 13th in GPA (69,985) and Boutier ranked 18th (70,177).
• In the sub-par rounds, Maguire has 63.24 percent to place 18th and Boutier is 19th with 62.03 percent.
• Boutier had six finishes in the top 10 to place 13th and Maguire’s five were placed at 19th.
• With 297 birdies, Boutier ranked 8th and Maguire ranked 24th with 270.
• Boutier ranked seventh with 10 eagles and Maguire ranked 17th with eight.
• In the 60’s, Boutier had 33 to place eighth, Maguire was 28th (26) and Liu was tied 31st (25).
• Maguire ranked 11th in par-3 average (2.97) and Duncan ranked 35th (3.00).
• For the par-4 average, Boutier is tied at 11th (3.99) and Maguire is tied at 28th (4.02).
• Maguire was third in par-5 average (4.53), Boutier was tied in 20th (4.63) and Liu was eliminated in 40th (4.68).

Both Boutier and Maguire ended the season strong at the CME Group Tour Championship. The pair combined to shoot 32-under-par, while Boutier finished third and Maguire finished 12th.

Celine Boutier (Duke Graduate 2016)
During the year, Boutier collected six top 10 finishes along with a win at the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer. Boutier replayed 65 rounds in the season finale to take a 4-stroke lead through 36 holes at the CME Group Tour Championship. She went on to earn $268,657 with a ledger tied for third place. Boutier also added 11 more shots in the top 20. She helped lead Europe to a 15-13 victory over the United States in the Solheim Cup and now an all-time 5-1-1 in two appearances at Solheim. Cup.

Leona Maguire (2018 Duke Graduate)
With 5 positions in the top 5 and 11 positions in the top 20, Maguire continues to rank 19th on the LPGA’s earning list. She had a long run where she finished in the top 20 for seven consecutive events, while taking a second best place of the season at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give to earn a $213,467 salary. la. Lindy Duncan, Celine Boutier
Brittany Lang (2004 and 2005 All America)
In 18 events, Lang finished in the top 40 three times as she went on to earn $133,887. She has consecutively crowned the top 12 throughout the season at The Amundi Evian Championship and the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational. She hit eight consecutive rounds in the 60s in those two events, including scoring under 16 at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational when she finished 10th.

Ana Belac (Graduating Duke 2020)
In her first year on the LPGA Tour, Belac finished in the top five at the Volunteers of America Classic, along with 16th at the Pure Silk Championship. She won four straight rounds in the 60s at the Volunteers of America Classic, as well as a 12 score below the season’s best.

Lindy Duncan (Duke Graduate 2013)
Duncan competed in 19 events in 2021 and finished his season best at 29th with rounds 68, 65, 71 and 71 for under 13 points. She collected nine top 50 results for the year.
