The Green Bay Packers should have a solid home-field advantage in the knockout stages thanks to the weather they could face at Lambeau Field.
It’s cold in Wisconsin. The Midwest in general gets pretty chilly in January. It’s not hard to think that a team in Wisconsin and used to the cold (like Green Bay Packers) can conceivably have a pretty solid advantage over a team that happens to be located somewhere in a warmer climate.
This time of year always tends to give a brutal home advantage to teams in cold weather. And that can certainly come true when the Packers host the Split Round of the NFL playoffs.
That looks horrifying to people unfamiliar with those kinds of temperatures.
Green Bay Packers knockout: Expected Green Bay to have home advantage thanks to Lambeau Field weather
Just as college football teams across the South benefited from playing in hot, humid conditions early in the season, they could have a solid advantage over their contemporaries because of that. Thereby, NFL teams like Minnesota and Green Bay benefit greatly from exposure to these types of conditions.
Longtime Packers veterans will be used to this type of weather. Sure, it would still be horrible for them, but at least they were prepared for this. Guys who like midfielders Aaron Rodgers will know what to expect from this type of weather. It is nothing new to them.
But which team gets to have the fun of playing Green Bay at Lambeau Field? They are probably not used to this. Chances are they’ll have a significantly less enjoyable experience with something like this.
Considering the Packers will face the lowest-seeded team, there’s a good chance they can get a winner in the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals. Neither team is often exposed to this type of weather.
Of course, the Philadelphia Eagles will also have a shot at Green Bay, but they need to get past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Same with the San Francisco 49ers needing to beat the Dallas Cowboys, but San Francisco is a bit warmer than Philadelphia.
