The Green Bay packers decided to switch from Davante Adams when they recently traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders. That leaves Aaron Rodgers practically out of guns for 2022, Colin Cowherd believes DK Metcalf could be a key element that will allow Green Bay to remain competitive in 2022.
Aside from westbound Davante Adams, the Packers also lost Marquez Valdes-Scantling to Kansas City. That leaves them with Allen Lazard and an aging Randall Cobb as their current top receivers. You need to bring in some serious talent. You have 11 draft picks as of now, and that draft should be deep when it comes to receivers. But is that enough?
This is where DK Metcalf’s narration comes into play. Metcalf finished the 2021 season with 75 receptions for 967 yards and 12 touchdowns. His receptions and yards mark have both fallen since 2020, but that’s partly to do with Russell Wilson missing a few games and likely rushing his return from injury. DK Metcalf is truly a No. 1 receiver in the NFL and could be a big player in Green Bay.
Colin Cowherd has taken all of this into account and given his assessment of the situation.

Colin Cowherd believes it’s crucial for the Packers to go after DK Metcalf
In part of his show ‘The herd’Colin Cowherd was quoted as saying “The Jets apparently called the Seahawks about DK Metcalf and the Seahawks said they weren’t interested. I think Seattle would have to consider making a 1st and 4th round pick for DK Metcalf. I also think Green Bay is desperate.”
Cowherd further added “You can draft a wide receiver, but good luck with Aaron Rodgers and a rookie wide receiver. Aaron is very precise and demanding. DK Metcalf comes in and gives them a #1 receiver. I don’t think he’s one of the strongest but he’s number 1 and they don’t have any. Then Amari Rodgers and Randall Cobb can be your slot guys, or you can draft a few people, but if you’re relying on a rookie coming in and making 90 catches with Aaron Rodgers, it’s not going to happen.
Cowherd added “They have to find a way to get the contract with DK Metcalf. It’s not going to be easy, but you can’t, in 2022 you can’t compete with the Rams, the Bucs, the Chiefs, or the Bills because they don’t have guns.”
How that would affect the Seahawks, Cowherd said “What it (trade with Metcalf) basically says is you literally start on the ground floor. Seattle says we’re a top-five draft team next year and want to get our next quarterback. It’s a tough decision, give me a 1st and one more thing and you have to take the call. IF it’s just a first, I’m not sure.”
The Packers certainly need help going into 2022, but Pete Carroll isn’t someone looking to sit back and rebuild. If he trades DK Metcalf, Seattle will do just that. While it would be interesting to see how Green Bay gets the young star, it’s hard to imagine that happening.
