Gran Turismo 7’s releaseOnete is rapidly approaching. The racing sim will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on March 4, but it will arrive without the feature that has been seen in a few previous GT games. B-Spec mode won’t be part of the GT 7 at launch, but it could be added later.
Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi spoke at length with GTPlanet about GT 7’s AI Sophy program, which plays a big part in the new game. Sophy uses machine learning to be a better driving opponent against you, but that technology can also be exploited for B-Spec Mode. Last seen in GT 6 (it omitted the GT Sport), B-Spec Mode allows the AI to take full control of a race as the driver. “I wouldn’t rule out using a B-Spec mode,” said Yamauchi, “where the player is the race director and Sophy is the controller.” So there are no official plans to implement it, but this mode could definitely be added in the future.
Gran Turismo 7 is still being released with a lot of interesting features. Scapes mode allows you to take beautiful pictures of all the amazing cars included in the game, Café Gran Turismo Offer challenges to unlock new vehicles and Music Rally is all about enjoying the background music while flying at a slower speed. The hype is real – maybe that’s why more than 14 million people have now played Gran Turismo Sport prior to release 7.
