With a persistent chip shortage that has an effect basically anything that requires silicon and, everyone’s favorite topic, cryptocurrency Depletion of stock of GPUsGetting new tech toys hasn’t been as easy as it used to be lately. At least not without a bonus. Fortunately, shifts in the crypto market and updates from GPU manufacturers seem promising.

Cryptocurrencies in general have had a bit of a rough time over the past week. As reported by axiosSudden declines in bitcoin, shares of Coinbase (the popular crypto trading service), and Terra (a “stablecoin” said to be equivalent to the US dollar) are at the heart of what’s prompting investors reconsider their interest at crypto. While the relationship between crypto and GPUs varies depending on the coin and technology we’re talking about, ASUS did just last week Co-CEO SY Hsu stated in an earnings call that demand for GPUs for mining crypto is finally waning, as reported by The registry. In the same tender, Hsu also stated that chip supply has reached a “manageable level,” although other components still pose a bit of a challenge.

This is great news ahead of the new 40 series cards on the horizonand a general downward trend in prices for GPUs. Coming out of this nightmare of uncertainty regarding high graphics card prices and hopefully chip shortage issues, we’ll likely have a few more options this time around as Intel is about to release its new Arc cards a number of internal and external challenges. However, if you’re currently looking for an AMD card, things might be going a little better for you. As reported by TechRadarAMD GPU stock looks remarkably good on websites new egg and is sold at RRP (price of the sun!).

While many may have perfectly suitable cards in their machines right now, it hasn’t been an easy time to either consider an upgrade or, should something bad happen, find a replacement. But hopefully the Decrease in blockchain-related activity and changes in chip shortages could bring prices to much more comfortable levels, and soon! So far things are looking good as we’re more than overdue for a change of pace in this narrative. GPU manufacturers anticipate changes in availability and price
