GM Dubs shocks with LaMelo Ball confession

Golden Empire Warriors GM Bob Myers shared how they considered drafting Charlotte Hornets‘star LaMeloa Ball.

While it is impossible to prove that he is ready for the NBA, Warrior still decided to pick James Wiseman in 2020. A knee injury prevented Wiseman’s progress in the league and was limited to playing just 39 games during his rookie season.

All told, Wiseman has yet to prove himself in the NBA. On the other hand, LaMelo Ball took the Hornets by storm in his first season and is now considered one of the brightest rising stars in the league. At this point, what do the couple only have in common? –They were all top players in the Warriors’ sights at the time.

“We targeted James [Wiseman,] obviously we put him in front of LaMelo [Ball],” said GM Bob Myers of the Warriors.Ryen Russillo Podcast. “We argue about everything… we’re pretty argumentative. I’m not the only one in the room saying ‘this is what we’re doing’ and then I close the door. We hashed out the whole thing as we thought it would.”

“We ranked it the way we did,” he continued. “We watched LaMelo, he had a great training session when we saw him. We knew he was going to be a really good player, but in the end we put James ahead of him.”

To be clear, it makes no sense for the Warriors not to cultivate another skilled point guard when the team Stephen the curry in its team. However, it is also undeniably interesting to see Ball in the Warriors uniform.
