The final was a best of 5, where the following cards were chosen to play: Ascent, Split, Haven, Fracture, Bind.

Map 1: Ascension

We saw Ascent’s first classic card conquered in an overtime attempt by Enigma Gaming with a score of 14-12. On the map, RvK led the way with 22 kills and Excali came in second with 20. Rossi and Lightningfast, on the other hand, played very well on the map, each having 23 and 22 kills respectively.

Map 2: Split

The second map was the equalizer where Global eSports managed to take the series score to 1-1 by capturing the map from Split in a dominating performance where they won the map with a whopping 13-6 score . Given the great teamwork at Global eSports, it was a sight to behold for the fans and the appearance of SkRossi was just the icing on the cake.

Another close fight was seen on Haven’s third map, where Enigma Gaming caused Global to grit their teeth with a 13-11 win over them. Despite the first half being fully evened with a 6-6 score, Enigma Gaming threw up and won 6 straight rounds after which GE won 2 rounds but was defeated when Enigma won their last round, taking away the card with 2: score 1

Map 4: Fracture

The Map of Fracture was won by Global eSports in the form of another takeover by a wide margin as the final score was 13-8. Remember this was an all or nothing situation for GE so they absolutely had to perform or they would have lost and performed. The entire squad rose to the action and complemented each other’s skills and won the game in the most beautiful way.

Card 5: Bind

In true Finals mode, we saw the Skyesports Champions Series Finals progress through to the 5th map, which in this case was Bind. Enigma Gaming hadn’t played a single match on Bind’s map, and while they didn’t play badly per se, being so far off the map really had its effects. Global managed to pull off a 13-9 win on the final map, winning the series 3-2 from Enigma Gaming!

With that, Global eSports was crowned the champion of the 2022 Skyesports Champions Series and won a top prize of $15,000, while Enigma Gaming took home a respectable $7,500. However, the real prize for both teams was not the money, but a spot at the VCT APAC Qualifiers Stage 2 where they would get a chance to represent India and the entire region if they finished in the top 2 there!

Which team will do better in Phase 2 of the VCT APAC Qualifiers is still unclear as Global eSPorts makes a roster change and Enigma Gaming looks a little shaky at times, but either way let’s hope both teams do their best!
