The hood of the vehicle went straight into the three-year-old’s bedroom, where he was playing with his mother.
The couple were thrown across the room as the window and mirror smashed.
Incredibly, the mother was unharmed, but the little boy was thrown against a cupboard, resulting in bruises and injuries to his leg.
Later in the day, the little boy was seen in his father’s arms gazing at the fire engines that came to his aid.
The 63-year-old driver of the car was unharmed in the crash.
She is believed to have backed out of a driveway across the street and panicked when an oncoming car paged her.
The driver is said to have then confused the gas pedal with the brake pedal and her evasive tracks were visible on the natural strip.
Police said alcohol played no role in the accident and have yet to decide whether to press charges.
While the house was badly damaged with a gaping hole in the room, the family said they don’t have to move out.
