If you’re brilliant like me, you’ve already caught a Ditto and a Zorua Pokemon scarlet and violet, by sheer luck. But for lesser mortals, some more direct help might come in handy. Also, you might be after those super high-level Dittos with the max IVs for your spooky Pokémon breeding needs. We have them.

why do you want her Well, for Zoroark, it’s just a nice Pokemon that you can’t get any other way. If you want to fill up a Pokédex or have a buff fox with epic hair on your team, you need to know how to hide them. Ditto, on the other hand, is even more useful: it’s used by breeders to ensure they can create ideal versions of their favorite monster. By pairing them with other Pokemon, you can ensure that all of the other parent’s moves and abilities are passed on, but if you’re given a Fate, the Ditto can also pass on its IVs to the child. (Yes, that’s eugenics.)

Where to find Ditto In Pokemon scarlet and violet

You can find Ditto and Zorua in a number of locations, but they congregate en masse in certain areas in areas two and three of the Western Province. The best place to find and catch Ditto at level 30 is just west of Medali. If you fly to the more western Poké Center and then head north to the first path that runs northwest between the cliffs, you’ll find both in ridiculous numbers.

When it comes to finding them in Tera Raids, they’re scattered randomly across the map, but below are tips on how to get around that.

How to find Ditto and Zorua In Pokemon scarlet and violet

The easiest and frankly cheapest method is to use ZR to see Pokemon in the wild.

It kinda sucks that this works, but if you use the (rather fuzzy in my experience – you have to make sure they’re the right distance from you and then center the screen) ZR to identify one nearby Pokemon whether it’s a Ditto, Zorua or Zoroark will just say it. That’s sort of the first day at the spy school level that you should know not to do. “Are you disguised?” “Sure I am! Oh damn.”

While this tends to spoil the fun, it is certainly most effective when actively hunting. Note: If you’ve never met them, you’ll see “???” in place of their names, but they sure will.

Watch out for strange behavior to spot a Ditto in the wild

But there are far more fun ways to do it. The best part of it – especially when you’re not actively hunting them – is noticing the behavior of wild Pokémon.

One of the joys of scarlet and violet is that there is wild territory everywhere and all the Pokemon you encounter behave according to their traits. Gone are the days when you had to wander through tall grass and be “surprised” by your fourteenth straight murkrow – now they’re all just out there in the open.

Some, like Sudowoodo, are cowards, sweating and running away when approached. Others are incredibly brave, like the damn Lokix who did it no understanding of personal space and will charge at you hungry for battle. Then there are those that just chill when you’re around, without the fuss, like a skiddo. Once you notice these behaviors, noticing when a particular Pokemon is becomes second nature Not behave like this. And that is a very good sign that you have a scammer on your hands.

Ditto, as you would imagine a purple blob of amorphous jelly, is very cold. If you see an aggressive Pokemon like a Mankey that doesn’t care that you’re there, then something is wrong. There’s a pretty good chance you’ve found a Ditto. Run up and attack and it will reveal its true form.

Zorua, on the other hand, is a wimp, so if you see a Pokémon getting all scared when you’d expect it to be brave, chase after it! Zorark is similar but disguised as a much higher level Pokemon. Austin John has a great guide on this here, specifically a good place for it:

Restart your game to find Ditto

By far the most cumbersome, but also the most effective method, was spotted by Atrius on Twitter.

If you suspect that you are surrounded by Zorua, Zoroark, or Ditto, you can manually save, exit, and reload the game. Since the game saves the locations of about 20 Pokemon around you, they’ll all reload if they were. But for some reason, the disguises aren’t saved, so the tricky Pokémon are loaded back into play in their true forms. Much easier to spot, although honestly, just ZR looks are a lot faster.

How to get a ditto with high IVs

IV stands for Individual Stats, the numbers that define a specific Pokemon’s stats. If you’re serious about your Pokémon battles, you’ll experience all of this and want to make sure you only have the very best characters for your team. And to ensure the best the, you will want to be able to breed them to order. Yes, hardcore Pokemon Players are no different from inhuman puppy breeders.

Because of this, you don’t want to waste your time trying to get lucky in the wild. To find the best Ditto you need to go to the Tera Raids. But again, not just by looking for them on the map – no, no, you want to use the Poké Portal.

A rather unsung feature of the game, the Poké Portal is your way to take part in non-co-op multiplayer – things like the Battle Stadium, Surprise Trades, and for us today, Tera Raid Battles. Select that from the Poké Portal menu (and make sure you press L to go online), and it will scan for a number of possible Tera Raids you could join, bundled up with strangers from the Internet. Here you have to be patient and wait for the shadowy form of a Ditto to appear or be used as one of the available fights one of the sites that shares link codes and try to be supernaturally fast with an uploaded code for a Ditto Raid. (You won’t believe how hard this is.)

If you can participate in a six-star raid, you are guaranteed five maximum IVs on your Ditto. which is pretty much perfect. It’s still going to be a tough fight, although there’s a very clever way to do it, too. Check out this video by Osirus explaining how when hosting a six star ditto raid while going in with a ditto allows you to get your companions to enter it without the usual difficulty beat pieces:

Here we go. Now you too can add the elusive beasts to your Rota, into your ailing breeding program, or at least fill in those gaps in your Pokédex.
