Gerald McCoy gives a promising injury update following the ACL tear and outlines his plans for how and where he wants to retire from the NFL.
Las Vegas Raiders tackle defense, Gerald McCoy, has been sidelined since the first half due to a serious season-end knee injury. Although he has been assigned to the bench while he recovers from a torn ACL, he did tell FanSided that things are progressing ahead of schedule, which will keep fans entertained while they wait and see. What can he do for the Raiders.
“I’m moving really fast,” he told FanSided. “I am healing extremely fast. I went back to the building. I said I was ahead of schedule, I said close, about two months ahead of schedule. ”
If that weren’t exciting enough with an update, McCoy has dropped something that is sure to please fans of his original team: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gerald McCoy wants to retire with the Buccaneers
Many fans have been wondering if during his downtime, he had any thoughts back to Tampa . Bay, and when asked, he was pretty clear about his intentions for a future with the Buccaneers.
“Back to Tampa? At some point, I will,” he said. “I grew up a Bucs fan, I was drafted there. So, at some point, I will retire as a Buc. But for now I’m a Raider, and then we’ll see what happens after that.”
Despite only playing one game with the Raiders, he is enjoying his new life in Las Vegas.
“You go to Vegas all the time to have a good time,” he said. “You know, with your friends, your family. But here, as a sports team, it’s a little bit different, because sightseeing is one thing, but actually living here, you can see, like really seeing the suburbs of Vegas, and that’s pretty cool. I love it here. ”
But he wouldn’t commit to loving it more than Tampa Bay.
“Tampa is very comfortable,” he said. “It’s more like a melting pot. While here, it is one of the entertainment capitals. It always happens here. It’s always a must and Tampa is a really quiet, more family oriented person. It’s more of a party scene here and more for adults.”
The Las Vegas Raiders will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
