Georgia is so damn good

When Oregon does this to BYU, it only goes to show how good Georgia really is.
After ripping away their goals from Georgia in the season opener, Oregon had no trouble with BYU, which is another sign of how dominant these Dawgs really are.
While this was a transition year for Dan Lanning in Eugene, the Ducks were still widely regarded as one of the top three teams in the Pac-12 alongside USC and Utah. As for BYU, Kalani Sitake’s team moved up to No. 12 in the most recent AP Top 25 poll after defeating Baylor in Provo. This was a team that was believed to have the potential to win the Group of Five in its final year before making the Big 12.
While Autzen is so incredibly difficult to win on the streets, beating the Dawgs might be impossible.
Oregon’s dominance of BYU proves just how unstoppable Georgia could be
Even as the college football playoffs expand to 12 teams in the coming seasons, the gap between the best team in the country and, say, 12th has never been wider. While the thought that expansion will somehow bridge the gap, this just feels like trickle-down economics. The good news is that Georgia is among the haves when it comes to the haves and have-nots debate.
What this game in Eugene is telling us is that no one is going to blame the Ducks for being humiliated by Georgia in Atlanta. Lanning’s team was little more than Dawg Food over Labor Day Weekend. Hell, he could have told you that before kick-off if he’d wanted to the honestly, well, because he used to work there. That’s the bar his team needs to achieve because that’s the standard they hope to achieve.
Ultimately, there is still so much to write about in the seasons of these three teams. Will the Ducks fly together and win the Pac-12 in Lanning’s first year on the job? Will Kirby Smart’s Dawgs repeat themselves as national champions? Are the Cougars ready to make that big competitive leap once Sitake’s roster joins the ranks of the Big 12 full-time next year? Those are all good things to discuss.
However, there is no debate as to who is the best team in the nation, and that team is Georgia.
