Georgia football insider isn’t closing the door on Arch Manning just yet
Georgian football may have seen its top recruit Arch Manning pick Texas on Thursday, but that doesn’t mean the Dawgs stop pushing for him.
There’s still a long way to go between now and December’s Early Signing Day, so don’t count the Georgia Football Staff until Arch Manning officially puts his name in Texas.
Georgia doesn’t break bridges with a recruit especially one like Manning, so that could change, although it hurts to see him prefer the Longhorns to the Dawgs.
Manning isn’t a player who can easily sway one way or the other because zero deals aren’t on the table until he gets into college, so it’s an old-school hamster wheel.
Recruiting is a marathon, not a sprint – if anyone has mastered this race, it’s head coach Kirby Smart.
Georgia Football will leave the door open for Arch Manning
Manning liked Steve Sarkisian in Texas, and that’s okay. Georgia doesn’t have the best track record of bringing quarterbacks into the NFL, so this decision makes sense. However, the Dawgs play much better than Texas. Georgia is also someone who struggles every year while Texas hasn’t done much outside of the one year they beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
This kid is doing what he thinks is best, and nobody should blame him.
Does it stink Georgia missed someone like him? Sure but the Dawgs already have a couple of 5-star and a 4-star quarterback room, ready to compete and lead the team once Stetson Bennett leaves.
UGA Sports’ Radi Nabulsi is right about the Dawgs not locking the door on Manning because Georgia never stops recruiting until pen hits paper. Manning will be no different.
While I don’t think he’ll change his mind, it never hurts to try because kids are kids. One week they love something and the next week it’s something else. Manning is a smart kid and if he really thinks Texas is the best place for him – good luck.
However, he may regret that decision if Georgia fights for another national championship and the Longhorns go 6-6.
