Genesis GV60 receives five-star ANCAP rating

The Genesis GV60 has been awarded five stars by ANCAP based on testing conducted by Euro NCAP.
It received an adult occupant protection rating of 89 percent, a child occupant protection rating of 89 percent, a vulnerable road user protection rating of 63 percent, and a safety assistance rating of 88 percent.
It is the third vehicle on Hyundai Motor Group’s new dedicated electric E-GMP platform to be assessed by ANCAP under the current test criteria and the third to receive five stars.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 received ratings of 88, 87, 63 and 89 percent, while the Kia EV6 received ratings of 90, 87, 64 and 88 percent, respectively.
ANCAP praised the GV60’s crash test performance, awarding it full marks for protecting the passenger in the frontal offset test, the driver in the side impact test, and child occupants in frontal and side impact crashes.
However, the GV60 was criticized for its protection of pedestrians in a collision, although it was found to still be within the five-star threshold.
It rated the protection of a pedestrian’s pelvis as poor, awarding just 0.45 out of a possible 6 points.
Moderate and poor results were also recorded for pedestrian head protection at the front and rear of the hood, at the base of the windscreen and at the rigid pillars.
The GV60 has eight airbags, including a front center airbag. The standard active safety set in Australia includes:
- Blind spot monitoring and support
- Blind Spot Monitor
- Rear cross-traffic warning and assist
- Driver Attention Monitoring
- Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
- Junction AEB (stops the car when there is a risk of exiting an intersection)
- Evasive steering assistance
- Lane Departure Warning (lane centering)
- Lane Keeping Assist with lane edge detection
- Parking sensors front and rear
- Surround view camera
- Safe Exit Help
The announcement of the five-star rating for the GV60 coincides with five-star ratings for two other electric SUVs: the Kia Niro and the Tesla Model Y.
The Model Y is a direct competitor for the GV60, earning an adult occupant protection rating of 97 percent, a child occupant protection rating of 89 percent, a vulnerable road user protection rating of 82 percent, and a safety assistance rating of 98 percent.
