Geelong woman ‘stabbed multiple times’ on her way home on Mundy St.

A 73-year-old Victorian woman was seriously injured when she was repeatedly stabbed from behind on her way home.

The woman had been with a family member and was walking home down Mundy Street in South Geelong around 7pm on Tuesday.

When she reached the corner of Bellarine St, police believed a man came up behind her and stabbed her several times.

He then left the scene of the crime.

The Geelong woman managed to get to a house on Mundy Street and sought help from residents, who called emergency services.

She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A short time later, police arrested a 32-year-old man at his home in South Geelong.

He remains in custody and supports the police in their investigations. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
