Gamigo is reshuffling RIFT’s legacy Hellbugs event for Lunar New Year weekend

Gamigo has been a bit of a mess for the past few months, and by all accounts RIFT’s The last community manager was fired early this winter, so I certainly wasn’t expecting to see a new event in the long-suffering former Trion MMORPG.

Well, “fresh” might be an exaggeration here; The event is the typical Hellbugs event and only takes place this weekend and ends at midnight on Sunday. Gamigo promises half a dozen quests, a “Reskinned Companion” and an experience boost for the duration. It’s basically the exact same event that took place in early February last year, right down to the promise of quests and reskins.

“You can find frightened NPCs in Sanctum and Meridian who will ask you for help regarding the Hellbugs that have infiltrated Rift from the long-lost Defiance universe. The daily quests “Burning Sensation” and “Bug Hug” as well as some quests earn you Chaos Motes, the event currency. These quests can be found at the Hellbug Event NPCs in your character’s capital. The Chaos Motes are the event currency that you can use either at the in-game Hellbug merchant or in the in-game item shop. You can get items like mounts, companions, and pet skins. You’ll also find a newly skinned companion named Erebos there. Participating in the event by closing Hellbug Rifts can also net you some nifty prizes like small XP or 15% token boosts, bonus currency, items from a special dimension, minions, wardrobe skins and even mounts!”
