“Full Time” with “Call My Agent!” by Laure Calamy purchased from Music Box

Music Box Films has acquired the US rights to Full Time, Eric Gravel’s visceral social thriller, which is one of five finalists for France’s official submission to the 95th Academy Awards.

Represented in international markets by Be For Films, “Full Time” had its world premiere in the Horizons sections of last year’s Venice Festival, winning two awards for Laure Calamy (“Call My Agent!”) and Gravel. The critically acclaimed film made its US debut with New Directors/New Films.

Music Box Films brings “Full Time” to theaters and home entertainment platforms in 2023.

Calamy, one of France’s finest actors, plays a single mother who struggles to raise her two children in the suburbs while working a demanding job as head maid at a luxury Paris hotel. When she finally gets an interview for another job she’s been hoping for, a nationwide strike breaks out, disrupting public transportation. The fragile balance Julie has built is threatened. Julie then embarks on a frantic race against time while juggling a reluctant babysitter, hostile co-workers, unreliable trains, a broken boiler, and a host of other worldly obstacles that combine to create unstoppable power.

“‘Full Time’ announces a tremendous talent in Eric Gravel, a filmmaker who has managed to navigate the day-to-day problems of a working single parent and create an effortlessly engaging, precisely constructed thriller accessible to audiences anywhere.” said Brian Andreotti, head of acquisitions at Music Box Films.

“Laure Calamy appears in almost every frame on ‘Full Time’ and delivers a performance that will leave audiences as breathless as her character,” continued the manager.

Andreotti described the film as “a close race against a fragile social safety net” and “a universal experience and a compelling cinematic work”.

Pamela Leu, founder of Brussels-based Be For Films, said she was “pleased and honored that ‘Full Time’ is being distributed through the acquisition of Music Box Films”.

“We have found a strong partner to release a unique social drama, a multi-award winning film celebrated by the international press in the US,” added Leu.

Since breaking into the hit series Call My Agent!, Calamy has become one of France’s biggest stars and most versatile actors in recent years. She won the Cesar Award last year for her role in Caroline Vignal’s romantic comedy My Donkey, My Lover and I, which was part of the Cannes Official Selection. She has several films currently showing at festivals, most notably Blandine Lenoir’s Angry Annie, which won diversity‘s Piazza Grande Award in Locarno and Sebastien Marnier’s The Origin of Evil, which was played in Venice and Toronto.
