The fight between former NFL rerun Frank Gore and former NBA All-Star Deron Williams will now serve as an exhibit on basically the rematch between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley on Saturday.
Showtime revealed in a press release following Friday’s ceremonial deliberation that the Florida State Athletic Commission sanctioned such a match. It was originally set up as the professional boxing debut for both fighters ahead of Saturday’s event in Tampa, Fla.
The 215-pound contracted heavyweight bout is scheduled for four rounds with boxers wearing 12-ounce gloves, the umpires in the ring will score the rounds and with the winner declared, a Showtime official confirmed to MMA Fighting. ESPN Be the first to report changes.
Competition results will not be reflected on the boxer’s professional profile.
Gore ranks third on the NFL’s all-time top rush list and holds the record for most games played by a rerun in the league’s history.
Williams has played for multiple teams throughout his NBA career and is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. In addition, Williams is a co-owner of Fortis MMA in Dallas.
