On this day in 1999, Brooklyn performs Inga Merchand aka Foxy Brown dropped her sophomore year effort, Chyna doll, on the Violator/Def Jam imprint. The album led a wave of success with previous projects released by Brown including her appearances on the album The Firm with Nas, AZ, and Nature as well as her own 1996 debut LP. Ill Nana. The album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, having only been completed by Lauryn Hill with The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill just a year earlier.

With production assistance from the likes of Kanye West, D-Dot, Irv Gotti, Lil Rob, Swizz Beatz along with catchy lyrics by Foxy, this album was guaranteed success by selling over a million copy.

Tracks like Jay-Z’s “Bonnie And Clyde Part II” and the surprise “Ride (Down South)” featuring 8-Ball, MJG, Too Short and Juvenile are Foxy’s proof of versatility and ready to bring her Hip Hop culture. together regardless of geographical origin.
