Former WWE superstar Bull Nakano was hospitalized with liver disease

In a recent interview with News Oricon, Japanese professional wrestling legend Bull Nakano detailed how she was hospitalized last year for liver disease after years of alcohol abuse.

Nakano, former female WWE champion, was hospitalized for cirrhosis in July 2020 after experiencing symptoms such as hair loss, flaky skin, and a swollen abdomen because of ascites. According to Nakano, she was forced to wear diapers at work after coughing up feces.

“I was actually told a long time ago that I would have to be hospitalized for treatment,” said Nakano. “However, due to busy work, I could not stay in the hospital for a long time, so I took a break to go to the hospital. However, eventually, I started coughing up poop and had to wear diapers when I went to work.”

The Japanese article notes how Nakano drank three 750ml bottles of shochu a day during her years as a professional wrestler. Nakano explained how her health has improved dramatically since she quit drinking.

“Until now, I couldn’t imagine a life without drinking,” admitted Nakano. “But after I was hospitalized and didn’t drink for about two months, I didn’t want to drink anymore even when I was discharged. Quitting alcohol makes my body healthier and I can live a more normal life. I can make the most of my time from morning to night, and that’s just a good thing.”

Nakano continued, “I thought to myself: ‘If I continue like this, I will become an alcoholic.’ Not a day goes by that I don’t drink, and I have no intention of quitting, so if I didn’t have cirrhosis, I would still drink. I quit drinking when my health declined, but I still like to drink… (laughs). (laughs) Even if I had become an alcoholic, I probably wouldn’t have known it. ”

Nakano then appeared to blame peer pressure from fellow professional wrestlers for underage drinking.

“I was underage when I started out so I couldn’t drink, but there have been times in my life when I was forced to drink, and there were times when I was forced to drink because of the pressure, so I am. trained and became stronger. ”
