Former Vikings star Adam Thielen expresses excitement at joining the Panthers after signing a three-year deal

Former Viking Adam Thielen is currently on cloud nine as he will add his name to the Carolina Panthers roster by signing a 3-year contract.

Thielen made an incredible contribution to the Vikings team last season, catching 70 passes for 716 yards and 6 touchdowns. In his 135 total regular season games, the pro WR rushed for 6,882 yards from 55 touchdowns.

Apparently, the Vikings’ No. 1 wide receiver Adam Thielen fell into the No. 2 role as their other receiver Justin Jefferson established himself as the top pick.

Popular sports analyst Pat McAfee previously tweeted confirming the deal, saying: “According to my source(s), @athielen19 is signing with the Carolina Panthers. The three-time Pro Bowler has agreed to a 3-year contract. The 32-year-old feels GREAT…according to my source(s).”

Adam Thielen confirmed the news by retweeting the tweet with a funny GIF.

The veteran recipient found his next home after spending a decade in Minnesota. Thielen signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2013, but did not appear in the game during his rookie season and began playing on special teams the next year.

According to’s Kevin Patra, Minnesota State Product has been in frequent talks with the former Vikings to restructure its deal by reducing the $19.97 million cap earned this season, though they have reached no conclusion on what led to the Minnesota Vikings releasing Thielen on March 10.

Upon his release, Vikings manager GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah stated, “Adam will forever be a part of the Minnesota Vikings family and history. Adam has set the standard with his play on the field, is a selfless teammate, and leaves a lasting impression on the community. Adam’s influence is significant.”

“We are grateful for all he has brought to the Vikings organization since his arrival in 2013 and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him over the past year. He is the best representation of what the Minnesota Vikings should stand for. I wish Adam, Caitlin and their entire family all the best,” he added.

The Panthers camp also made some big moves, signing former Philly running back Miles Sanders and former Bengals tight end Hayden Hurts alongside Thielen to bolster their offensive side. Veteran WR will join Terrace Marshall Jr., Shi Smith and Laviska Shenaultn.

With Thielen on board, the Panthers are hoping to build on their promising season ahead and put on a deep playoff run in the coming year.
