Former USC Trojan QB Kedon Slovis Announces Transfer To Pittsburgh Panthers Soccer Team

Before USC midfielder Kedon Slovis announced on Tuesday that he is moving in Pittsburgh.

Slovis joined the transfer portal earlier this month following news that USC had hired Lincoln Riley as its next head coach.

“USC will always be a special place for me,” Slovis wrote in an essay for The Players ‘Tribune. “But now it’s time for me to start a new chapter. To qualify for the next two years, I’ll be playing quarterback at the University of Pittsburgh.”

Formerly a three-star lead in Arizona, Slovis registered early at USC in 2019 and was a fallback to a five-star lead JT Daniels. Daniels suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first game of the season against State of Fresno and Slovis stepped in as starter.

Despite several injuries, Slovis went on to throw more than 3,500 yards and 30 touchdowns that season, winning the Pac-12 Freshman Award and leading USC with an 8-4 campaign. After Daniels moved in Georgia, Slovis entered the 2020 season as a starter for Trojan and led USC to a 5-1 record in a season that shortened the pandemic.

In 2021, after USC fired Clay Helton, Slovis’s role was affected by injury and the rise of QB freshmen. Jason Dart, who split time with Slovis at the end of the season. Slovis ended the year with 2,153 passing yards and 11 touchdowns.

“I’m delighted that Coach [Pat] Narduzzi called, because I knew that Pitt and this program was the right fit for me to continue to grow into the best leader I could be,” Slovis said. Now that I’m ready to win – and talking to players who are returning and seeing how hungry they are for next season, it’s got me excited. They have a lot of talented players coming back. “

Slovis Will Have A Big Shoe To Fill: The Panthers Are Losing A Heisman Trophy Finalist Kenny Pickett to the NFL. However, Slovis will have a Biletnikoff Award winner Jordan Addison back as a top goal.

Slovis is not the first USC quarterback to end up in Pittsburgh. In 2016, Max Browne moved to Narduzzi’s team after losing his start job to Sam Darnold. Former USC Trojan QB Kedon Slovis Announces Transfer To Pittsburgh Panthers Soccer Team
