Former UFC fighter Kevin Lee converts to Islam

Kevin Lee is the latest in a long list of martial artists who have embraced Islam. He embraced Islam in October 2021 but decided to keep the news to himself for now. At the start of 2023, the former UFC lightweight contender has finally come forward to share the good news with the world.

Kevin Lee had been fired from the UFC after failing to beat Daniel Rodriguez in August 2021. After being a free agent for a while, he was offered a contract by Khabib’s struggle promoted Eagle FC. Kevin didn’t hesitate and switched to the new fight promotion to continue his fighting legacy.

What did Kevin Lee have to say?

On January 10, 2023, Lee tweeted: “Since I became public about my conversion to Muslim, many people have reached out for support. I see all the messages and calls, I feel the love. Allah always has a plan and I’m glad I’m on the right path.”

He then decided to clear up some confusions by saying, “Just to clarify because I see the questions, I officially embraced Islam in my life in October 2021, I just didn’t speak out publicly until recently. I would like to start a podcast soon, where I can speak in more detail.”

Kevin also spoke about his manager Marquel Martin’s reaction to the matter: “I have embraced Islam. I converted to Islam and truly accepted my place in life as a Muslim. And that alone kind of got me into the Brotherhood, … speaking to more Muslims and developing more of a bond with those people, and Ali is someone I’ve known for years.”

“We’ve trained together, we have a lot of respect for each other and he has a lot of relationships in MMA. So the partnership just worked out and I got Marquel’s blessing to move.”

We too hope only the best for the American on his new trip.
