Former Tar Heels star sues Duke trainer for lack of athleticism

After a loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels, an assistant coach at the Duke Blue Devils apparently refused to shake hands with Hubert Davis.

Justin Jackson, a former North Carolina Tar Heels star, thinks a certain assistant coach at the Duke Blue Devils might be better at dealing with losses from emotional rivalry.

In a video that went viral after the Blue Devils lost to the Tar Heels on Saturday night, it appears Chris Carrawell, an assistant to Duke, refused to shake hands with North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis .

Davis reaches for a customary handshake, which is a traditional sign of sportsmanship. Carrawell appears to withdraw his hand and continues to walk right past Davis. Sure, Duke lost 94-81 to North Carolina in Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s last home game, but that’s no excuse for it.

All Carrawell had to do was shake Hubert’s hand, and he declined. Now Duke gets a lot of attention and criticism.

It’s certainly a less than ideal situation for Carrawell and Duke.

It’s hard to blame Jackson (and so many others) for being frustrated with the way Carrawell handled this loss and refusing to even remotely engage with Davis. according to a report of The Charlotte Observer, Carrawell claimed that Davis “didn’t tremble [Duke’s] hands before the game.”

However, as some have noted, Davis actually shook hands with Coach K prior to the start of the game.

It’s not the worst thing, but it sure is weird and it’s definitely a bad look for the Blue Devils.
