Former NFL player Brendan Langley has been charged in an airport fight

Brendan Langley struggles with a United employee at Newark Airport.

United Airlines has fired an employee who fought a former NFL player at Newark Airport, and the football star himself is facing criminal charges.

Brendan Langley, 27, tussled with a United Airlines employee last week, eventually throwing the airline employee to the ground more than once. The clerk repeatedly returns to Langley and appears to taunt him into an ongoing struggle.

The video, which begins when the confrontation was already underway, shows the employee pushing Langley, a former Denver Broncos cornerback.

Langley responds in kind and more so by unleashing multiple punches at the clerk, who stumbles back to his feet.

The worker then raises his fists, signals Langley that he intends to fight, and punches Langley in the face.

Langley then hits the clerk hard enough to knock him to the ground, where he appears to hit his head.

However, the United worker is undeterred: he gets back up and confronts Langley again.

“Would you like some more?” Langley could be heard yelling at the clerk and then, apparently to bystanders, “He wants some more!”

Some could be heard from onlookers repeatedly urging the men to stop fighting.

According to the Daily mailthe fight began after Langley used a wheelchair to transport his luggage instead of a luggage cart, which cost $5.

Langley was eventually removed from the airport by police Daily mail also reported.

The former Bronco, who now plays for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, took to Twitter to tell his side of the story.

“[E]Very angle point me away from buddy, [I] had a whole ass flight that morning [I] didn’t want smoke!” Langley wrote. “[H]He followed me all the way to the kiosk just to assault me. [I’]I’m honestly still shocked.”

The United employee worked for United Ground Express, the airline’s subordinate connection service.

United Airlines confirmed the employee, who has not been publicly identified, has been fired.

“United Airlines has no tolerance for violence at our airports or on board our aircraft and we are working with local authorities to investigate this matter,” a United Airlines spokesman told Law&Crime via email. “United Ground Express has informed us that the employee has been terminated.”

According to law enforcement, Langley was charged in connection with the fight.

“The Port Authority confirms that around 11:03 a.m. on May 19, Brendan Langley was involved in a physical altercation with a United Airlines employee at Newark Liberty International Airport and was charged with minor assault and released of his own accord,” a spokesman said The New York and New Jersey Authority, the agency that oversees transportation infrastructure in the two states, told Law&Crime in an email.

The Port Authority did not respond to a request for information as to whether charges were also being brought against the employee.

The Canadian Football League did not immediately respond to Law&Crime’s request for comment.
