Former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo says he was kicked by Urban Meyer in preseason battle

The Urban Meyer situation in Jacksonville seems to be getting more and more toxic by the day. The latest issue has come to light around the first year Jaguar Head coach from former player Josh Lambo, who revealed to Rick Stroud’s Tampa Bay Times that Meyer kicked him while he was stretching with his teammates during practice in August just before the final pre-season game against Dallas Cowboys.

“I’m in a swinging position. Left foot forward, right foot back,” Lambo told Stroud. “… Urban Meyer, while I was in that tense pose, came up to me and said, ‘Hey Dips-t, do your f-king kick!’ And kicked me in the leg.”

The root of Meyer’s push was that Lambo – and the All-Pro striker in 2019 – missed a goal-scoring attempt in each of the Jaguars’ first shows. Naturally, the hit prompted a reaction from Lambo, who also noted that Meyer didn’t refer to the experts by name, rather their location, or “S – tbag, Dips – t or whatever What the hell is that?”

“It’s certainly not as hard as he can be, but it’s definitely not a faucet of love,” Lambo said. “Honestly, I register it as five (out of 10). At work, I don’t care if it’s football or not, the boss can’t attack an employee. And for a second, I don’t. possible” I don’t believe that actually happened. Sorry for my vulgarity, I said, ‘Don’t ever f-king kick me again!’ And his answer was, ‘I’m the head coach of rugby, I’ll kick you whenever I want.’ “

On the day Meyer kicked him with a shotgun, Lambo said he then reported the incident to his agent, Richard Irvin, who then contacted Jaguars legal counsel. In a statement to Tampa Bay Times, the Jaguars said that they “acknowledged and responded immediately to a query made by a representative of Josh Lambo on Friday, August 27, 2021.” They added that they offered to speak to Lambo about the incident, but he told Stroud he “didn’t remember anything about being able to speak to Jags’ legal team.”

Meyer has said that Lambo’s description of the incident was “completely inaccurate, and there are witnesses to refute his account.”

“(General manager) Trent (Baalke) and I have met with him many times to encourage his performance, and this has never been mentioned,” Meyer added, through the Tampa Bay Times. “I fully support Josh throughout his time with the team and wish him nothing but the best.”

This kernel is just the latest in what is believed to be a very disorderly situation led by Meyer, as CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora previously reported on. On Saturday, NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reported that Meyer met with players and coaches on his staff. He harshly criticized his assistant coach, insisting that he was a winner and they were a loser while challenging them to defend their résumé. Meanwhile, he is said to have also had a heated argument with the veteran receiver Marvin Jones.

“That’s why I want to talk about this,” Lambo told Stroud about the latest reports about Meyer. “There’s been a lot of change, but it’s still who I am. Some of those guys are my duds, and the staff I’ve developed into a great relationship over the past five seasons. He is. threatened them all for speaking the truth. And that’s a bully, and people need to speak out against bullies.”

Jaguars owner Shad Khan recently told reporters that he won’t be impulsive when it comes to Meyers’ future with the team and said, “I’m going to think about all of that and do the right things for the team and the right things for the city.”

As for Lambo, he was released by the team at the start of the season after missing his first three goals and is currently a free agent.
