Michael Owen has criticized a football coach for a tweet he posted regarding some obnoxious comments made about his 19-year-old daughter. His daughter Gemma Owens is 19 and a Love Island contestant. The soccer player’s 19-year-old daughter appeared on the British TV show, which saw single girls in bikinis looking for love in a Spanish villa. Her involvement has sparked controversy as Michael is her father.

Many have said she is “too young” for the ITV reality show and many have threatened to complain to Ofcom, Britain’s television show regulator, after she kissed 27-year-old Davide Sanclimenti over their age difference . Her father was there for her and defended her in every situation, again he didn’t hold back when a soccer coach made a derogatory comment about his daughter.

Gemma Owens’ appearance on the show prompted the football coach Paul Stolzwho claims to be a former professional soccer player to tweet, “I can’t wait to see her smashed.” along with laughing emojis and a thumbs up. Any father would be furious to see such comments about his daughter.

Owens was no different, he calmly responded by tweeting, “What a fine example from a man in your position of responsibility.” His fans also supported him by tweeting, “Don’t rush it mate, even with an answer, easier said than done I know. My daughter will be the same age in August.” The disturbing fact is that Proud is the coach of an under-18 girls soccer team.

After this tweet went viral, Proud deleted his Twitter account and also stated that he was no longer a football coach. He claims he had ‘AWAY’ left the club despite being posted ‘jokingly’ and that was it ‘Out of context.’

Michael Owen has also admitted on numerous occasions that he was concerned about Gemma’s appearance on the show because the contestants were forced to make out with each other. He admitted he was shocked to see his eldest child sharing a bed with a man on their first night, telling the Daily Mail “No father wants to see physical contact, do they? I certainly don’t. If there’s physical contact, I think I’m throwing something on the screen. I don’t want to see kissing. Don’t let me see you kiss.”
