“First Kill” cancelled: Netflix is waiving Season 2 of the Vampire series

Netflix has taken a cut from First Kill and has decided against picking up the teen vampire series for a second season. The news comes nearly two months after the streamer debuted all eight episodes of the show’s first season in early June.
Sources close to the matter claim that Netflix is proud of the work the producers, cast and crew put into the series, though the decision came down to a matter of looking at numbers versus costs.
Based on a short story by horror author VE Schwab, “First Kill” follows Calliope (Imani Lewis) and Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook), two teenage girls who fall in love but come from feuding families: one a dynasty of vampire slayers who other a number of bloodsuckers.
The series also starred Elizabeth Mitchell, Will Swenson, Aubion Wise, Jason Robert Moore, Gracie Dzienny, Dylan McNamara, Dominic Goodman, Phillip Mullings Jr., MK xyz, Jonas Dylan Allen and Roberto Mendez. Felicia D. Henderson and Schwab were executive producers for Belletrist Productions alongside Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss.
Critics were lukewarm about “First Kill,” with the series earning an approval rating of 58% from critics on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. diversity The television’s chief critic, Caroline Framke, expressed frustration with the show in her review, calling it “more of a clumsy swing at relevance than a story anyone can really sink their teeth into.”
However, the series had garnered a loyal following in the weeks since its premiere. In a post confirming the cancellation, cast member Goodman expressed his gratitude to the show’s fandom.
“I have nothing but love for each and every one of you!” Gutmann wrote. “Thank you for taking on the show as your own. To see that you all feel seen was worth the hard work and hours.”
To all First Kill fans; I have nothing but love for each and every one of you! Thank you for embracing the show as your own. Seeing that you all feel seen made all the hard work and hours worth it🫶🏽❤️until the next project 🚀
