We are a few months away from Final Fantasy XVI‘s release date of June 22nd and more details about the upcoming not-so-final fantasy RPG keep being tricked out. Besides learning that is the game for about 80 hourswe finally got a quick but sweet look at the cute wolf dude kicking ass.

The sixteenth mainline entry at Square Enix final fantasy Series, FFXVI puts you in control of Clive Rosfield, a handsome boy determined to get revenge on the bastards who killed his brother. To do this, punch, cast, and summon your way through multiple enemies to take the antagonist two meters underground. But you are not alone. Clive has a bevy of party members to accompany him on his journey, one of them being the badass wolf Torgal.
The Japanese FFXVI The Twitter account shared a 15-second video of Clive and Torgal fighting together. This is far too short to find out anything, but you can see Torgal spring into action after Clive says “Get him”. He does a quick two part combo and backflip to launch a scorpion in the air leaving him stunned on landing. Clive then shoots a ball of fire, after which Torgal, the best boy he is, hits the scorpion in the air to land a spin attack. The two end the attack, the scorpion dying from all that chill.

According to the tweet, Torgal can be commanded to combine attacks. AS GamesRadar+ noted, Torgals movement is very similar to Nero out Devil May Cry 5. given FFXVIThe battle of was designed by DMC5‘s Ryota Suzuki, the overall familiarity isn’t too surprising. We’ve known that for a minute too Torgal was a companion to travel with. This happens to be the first time we see the unkempt pup getting his fangs dirty.
Besides, Torgal reminds me of two others FF four-legged animals: Red XIII off Final Fantasy VII and Angelo out Final Fantasy VIII. Red XIII is the obvious standout, as the battle-hardened and heavily tattooed lion-like creature joins the handsome boy Cloud Strife on some of his expeditions. Meanwhile, Angelo is not easily approachable as he is only an aid to Rinoa to call on in battle. Nevertheless, in my eyes, the esteemed Australian Shepherd is an honorary member of the party. final fantasy is known for its good guys and Torgal seems to fit the bill too.

Final Fantasy XVI has a lot going for it, especially considering producer Naoki Yoshida’s comments on the series: “battle’ to find new audiences. Perhaps Torgal attracts animal lovers of all kinds. I mean, I know I’m invested now. Hope nothing happens to my precious battle wolf. I would be sad.
