Film critic who loves Tetris movies had never heard of Tetris

I rarely make a big deal out of people who don’t know anything about old games, movies, or comics. The world is huge, everyone has different life experiences, and it’s totally okay if people haven’t heard about every cool game or movie you love. However, that all goes out the window when I discover that someone has never heard of it tetris. ‘Cuz like… come on. It is tetris!
tetris is one of the most popular video games of all time. Since its legendary creation in the 80’s, this wonderful puzzle game about stacking and organizing differently shaped falling blocks has appeared in some form on almost every device with a screen. At the moment the device you are reading this on is playable tetris. Go and ask your parents about it tetris. You know what it is. Maybe not all played it, sure, but it’s hard to believe that a grown human with an internet connection or a TV hasn’t heard of the world-famous puzzler. And yet, that’s what film critics do Peter Hammond allegations in his review of the upcoming tetris Movie.
In a new review up to now meetingFilm critic Hammond begins by admitting that not only has he never acted tetrishe didn’t know it existed before reviewing the film.
“Full Disclosure: Sue me, but not only have I never played the iconic ’80s video game tetrisI had never heard of it before I came across this new film tetris‘ Hammond explained. “I realize that probably makes me an oddity to the gamer generation.”
Sir, no offense, but that makes you an oddity to, I think, 99 percent of adults who have access to the world wide web or a phone.
To be clear, I’m not here to bully Hammond. And please don’t bother the guy with it. I’m just shocked, amused and puzzled by how someone can get this far in life – even using the internet – and somehow never hear about the most famous puzzle game of all time. It seems almost impossible, like a joke maybe? But the rest of Hammond’s review isn’t just positive, it’s genuine. I really think this guy incredibly has never heard of it tetris Before.
kotaku has reached out to Hammond for comment.
Mr. Hammond, if you’re reading this, please know that I’m not trying to be mean. i just want to understand And I also really want you to create a Twitch account and stream yourself as you play tetris for the first time. I would look at that immediately.
tetris (the movie, not the game) will be available to stream on Apple TV+ on March 31st.
