Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had a weekend to forget at Ferrari. This race was meant to be a celebration of sorts for the Tifosi who wanted one of the two riders to win the Imola GP. But on the contrary it was a terrible weekend for Ferrari as Carlos Sainz crashed out of the race through no fault of his own and Charles Leclerc’s costly error meant he went 19 points ahead after a flawless season so far.

Ferrari would have liked to extend their lead at the top of the Constructors’ Championship, but that wasn’t the case. When a driver dropped out and Red Bull went 2-1, their lead shrank to just 11 points. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez enjoyed a perfect weekend with everything going their way. However, this was overdue as the Red Bull drivers have had their fair share of bad luck this season.

But Ferrari is the most successful team in Formula 1 history and has had many weekends like this one. The Italian Giants would react to such a weekend and get up again.

The team has been proactive since their loss and it has been confirmed that new upgrades will be arriving. “Ferrari WILL bring a new rear wing to Miami, along with the new, more powerful PU2 for Charles Leclerc (Carlos Sainz already has the PU2).”

Charles Leclerc would like some support after that disappointing P6 finish at Ferrari’s home race. The Monegasque driver is one of the most honest drivers in the sport and clearly expressed his emotions after the race. He said, “I gave everything, but in the end I went over the limit.”

“Apologies to the team and to all the tifosi who support us. Instead of P3, it ended up on P6. We will come back stronger.”

Let’s just hope it was a hit in Ferrari’s quest to turn back the days and get back on top. We can be sure there will be no lack of intent from Ferrari and that would make it an intriguing competition in Miami.
