Whether that happens before the scheduled start of the season remains to be seen. As a result, there hasn’t been much news to report since the lockdown was implemented. After an incredible 2020 season in which his play helped the Padres reach the NL Divisional Series, Tatis was awarded a 14-year, $340 million contract extension.

Last season, Tatis had to deal with a multi-shoulder injury. However, both times he was put on the 10-day injury list. However, he played a total of 130 games.

Tatis took down .282 / .364 / .611 while hitting 42 home runs (highest in the tournament), 97 RBI, 99 runs and 135 hits. He made it to the All-Star team, won the Silver Slugger, and finished third behind Bryce Harper (winner) and Juan Soto for the NL MVP award.

Whenever the 2022 season begins, Tatis and the Padres will look to make a post-season return trip with new manager Bob Melvin.
