The Pittsburgh Steelers could face a host of injuries and players sidelined this game due to COVID. Across the board, it creates a next HR approach. On the offensive line, a unit likely to be without Kevin Dotson this weekend, JC Hassenauer seems to be on track to get a nod from BJ Finney and Joe Haeg.
Although unconfirmed, the stream of questions from reporters this week seems to suggest Hassenauer worked with team 1 during the practice week. Kendrick Green was asked on Friday how it feels to have Hassenauer by his side instead of Hassenauer as the team’s backup centre.
“JC is a smart guy,” Green told reporters via Steelers.com. “It was like having another pair of eyes out there to me. Because he is also the center. ”
Not leaving Alabama in 2018, Hassenauer originally signed with the Atlanta Falcons. He spent time with the AAF’s Birmingham Iron team before being signed by the Steelers in April 2019. He spent the day and was left out of the practice squad but stuck in 2020. After several times injury, he got his first game late. last season and ended up doing three more times, recording 305 snaps.
Over the summer, he earned a B for his camping and pre-season performance. In our review, we wrote:
“His size and fitness are average or below but he had over 300 shoots last season, making this camp perhaps easier for him. He also played with a tough, athletic man that I’m sure the coaches love. He has the most central rep after Green and it seems the team has made him their backup hub. He also has versatile defending although I’m only comfortable playing him in a rotation position. ”
In the first nine weeks of 2021, he played a few snaps but was forced off the field for Dotson last week, who sprained his high ankle and will almost certainly keep him out of the game. attend Sunday night’s game against the Chargers. Hassenauer played 54 captures. Now, he will start his career in 5th place in Week 11.
In Alabama, Hassenauer was briefly teammates with RB Najee Harris, a senior during Harris’s first year on campus.
“I’m a freshman,” Harris said through the group’s website. “It was my first year there. I think it was his last year. I’m just trying to find my way. Just like now I’m trying to find my way.”
Now running behind Hassenauer, Harris will find his way against LA.
