Fast & Furious CrossroadsSlightly Mad Studios’ Fast & Furious tie-in game, will be removed from digital stores on April 29.
According to the update on the game’s website, Crossroads will no longer be available for purchase on that date, but players who own it digitally will still have it in their library and will be able to download it again in the future. Similarly, DLC and online modes will remain active – sales are, according to the update, the only thing on pause.
All product sales will end on:
April 29, 2022 – 4am CEST
* Please note that times may vary by region.
If you purchased the game digitally, it will remain in your library and may be re-downloaded in the future.
Any DLC purchased before April 29, 2022 will remain available for use after this date. The game’s online modes will also remain active.
Of course, as we’ve seen before, a sales pause is often just a prelude to eventual server downtime, the first stage that publishers refer to with phrases like “end of service.” end life”. Considering the fact that the game launches in August 2020 – this would coincide with one of the much delayed games F9: The Fast SagaMultiple release windows are planned – this means the game’s lifespan is very short, disappearing in less than two years.
Despite being set in the world of the Fast and Furious movies and featuring some of its characters and cars, Crossroads failed to connect with the audience thanks to the rote gameplay that did not allow the player to enjoy the aforementioned cars. It essentially tasked them with simply driving from place to place on a linear road interrupted by quirky stunts.
Turns out being able to live out a quarter mile at a time may not be the best idea.
