Farmer seeks wife: Matt’s meeting with Olivia’s family throws a spanner in the works

It was hot for farmers Matt and David on Sunday night’s episode of Farmer Wants a Wife when each farmer met the families of his last two wives.
There was much laughter – and some awkward moments – as Matt met first Annabelle’s family and then Olivia’s family.

Farmer David had an argument with Emily’s family and seemed to get along well with Lorelei.
But after meeting the parents, was any of the peasants any closer to deciding which lady to choose?
First, Matt made his way to Umina Beach on the central New South Wales coast to meet Annabelle’s family.
Mum Nicole said she liked the body language they shared, while dad Nigel asked Matt why he thought he was ready to commit to a long-term relationship at just 23.
“I’m a little worried that if Annabelle isn’t the last person, we’ll have to get some pieces together there,” Nigel said.
Meanwhile, David was on his way to Brisbane to meet Emily’s family, who seemed shocked when she said she was ready to pack up and move into his farm in Pozieres, Queensland, within a month.
“There was a low gasp around the table when she said she was ready to move,” David later remarked.
Emily’s sister Laura said she was very protective and “worried” her feelings would be hurt.
When Emily said she was falling in love with David, Laura asked, “How much of that is being carried away at the moment?”
Emily replied: “A small part of me worries about what the real world will be like if this continues.
“But this is the first time I’ve told anyone how I feel, every step of the way, and I think that makes all the difference.”
In a separate interview, Laura said she was “very nervous” about how things would go next.
“There is another girl in the picture and this could turn out completely differently than she expected and a first heartbreak could be really devastating.”
Next, Matt traveled to Wollongong to meet Olivia’s family – mom Kim, stepdad Chris and older sister Belle.
After Matt mentioned he was moving to Canberra, Olivia explained that she would try to work flexible hours so she could spend part of the week in Canberra and part in Wollongong.
“I just don’t want you to make all the sacrifices,” Belle said to Olivia.
“I think it would be sensible to take turns because while it seems pretty tight, it would be good to pack up and go every weekend…a little bit of both.”
Matt seemed a little upset at this suggestion.
“It’s a bit of a shock — I thought[Olivia]would be happy to move to Canberra,” Matt said in a separate interview.
“I feel like it throws a spanner in the works for me.
“I think if we had to do it over a distance it would put a lot of strain on the relationship.”
Eventually, David traveled to Newcastle to meet Lorelei’s family.
“I haven’t brought anyone home to meet my family in years, so this is a very big moment for me,” Lorelei admitted.
After lunch, Lorelei and her brother Harrison sat down to talk.
“He’s so nice — I can see why you like him,” Harrison said.
“He’s just a really genuine guy and you seem really happy — and that makes me happy.”
“I’m so happy,” Lorelei said.
“You know I’ve been single for a long time and this is the guy I’ve been waiting for.
“I’m starting to fall in love with David, which is, yeah, very scary.”
