Fans are left in awe as Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King try to cook breakfast without ignoring the burner’s click

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King have been best friends for over 46 years. Over the weekend of July 4th, the dynamic duo reunited at Oprah’s old turf in Nashville, Tennessee, where her father lives. After shelling Crowder Peas in a video shared on Instagram with her family on Saturday, July 3, Oprah teamed up with Gayle to make breakfast the next morning.

“Making family breakfast with @gayleking,” the media mogul captioned the video on Sunday, July 4, using the hashtag #Nashvillestyle.

The hilarious clip shows the two talk show hosts preparing bacon, sausage, eggs and grits in the kitchen. “This is the first time in the history of the world,” Oprah said, before Gayle added, “In all these years.” Gayle continued, “I’ve got bacon duty and sausages. I actually can… and I made eggs.”

They also went back and forth about how easy it was to make bacon. “Gayle says, ‘I can make the bacon.’ I say, “You can make the bacon, what’s that? It puts it in a pan.”

Gayle claimed Oprah also criticized her for over-mixing the eggs, but both agreed that you can over-mix the eggs. “Yes you can,” Oprah added. “Yes you can.”

Fans were left in tears after watching the beloved TV personalities cook in the kitchen. Among the hilarious responses, most fans pointed out the repeated clicking sound, which means the stove wasn’t fully on or the burner cap wasn’t aligned properly. Here’s what some had to say.

“Oh my god the ticking of the burner scared me lol”

“Okay, but turn the stove up high.”

“The autopilot starter. You’re going to break this beautiful stove.”

“Why is the gas still on? You guys are finally going to blow up the house.”

“Yeah, great auntie vibes…this stove just clicks and clicks.”

Many believe neither Gayle nor Oprah initially noticed the clicking sound because, according to fans, cooking with them isn’t a regular occurrence. One person said: “Obviously you guys don’t cook often. Why is the burner still clicking?! lol.”

A second person wrote: “Due to the delayed response to the clicking of this burner, you often realize there is no one at this stove. lol!! But hey… If I were Oprah, cooking would be low on my priority list too! Have a beautiful Sunday!”

A third on social media said: “I love these two. Your friendship is everything.”

Others continued to compliment Oprah and Gayle’s friendship and their cooking style, but some seemed to pick sides as to who was the better cook. “@oprah makes grits right. She understands the slow stirring! #southern,” wrote one fan.

“Entertainment Tonight” host niche Turner said, “You make breakfast because we all know about @gayleking’s cooking!”

“I live for all of that,” added the actor Colman Domingo.

The official Oprah Daily Instagram account, formerly known as Oprah Magazine, also left a comment pointing to a 2004 episode of “The Oprah WInfrey Show.”

It said, “This reminds us of the episode where you all went back in time and made breakfast and @gayleking asked you to make her bacon extra crispy and you just stared at her for a full 16 seconds.”

In the nearly 45-minute episode, Oprah and Gayle traveled back in time — 400 years, to be precise — to experience what it was like to live in colonial times. The ladies ditched their phones, expensive clothes, makeup, and toilets to live in a colonial Maine home.

“I walked away with such a sense of wonder and wonder at what four porters could accomplish with so little and how hard it was not just to exist but to thrive and bring forth others who would also thrive,” Oprah said during the show .
