In almost every interview, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Rasheeda is asked how she overcame obstacles in her marriage to Kirk Frost. The two married in 1999 and shared two sons, Ky and card. But their marriage was far from flawless. The hit VH1 series revealed that Kirk Rasheeda had cheated on multiple occasions, including an affair with an ex-stripper that resulted in a love child in season six.
Rasheed forgave her husband for fathering a child outside of their marriage, although it took her a while to adjust to the baby. During a recent interview, the Pressed boutique owner was asked what drives her to stay next to her husband, who was sitting next to her.
“I didn’t care what other people thought and I had to recognize that. You won’t be nobody on TV if people don’t follow suit,” the reality star told The Neighborhood Talk. “They pull beyonce at the moment.”
The 40-year-old admitted viewers had “really really nasty things” to say about her and her marriage. “I had to realize that my marriage was mine and not someone else’s,” she said. “So other people’s opinions … it didn’t matter, especially from a lot of people who have never been married before.”
She said it’s easy to say what you’re going to do or not do, but: “You don’t know what you would put up with. You don’t know what your drawing point is. You don’t know what life has in store for you.” She added, “But at the end of the day, I’ve made my choices. I’m happy with my life.”
Kirk chimed in to express how he felt about his wife still being supportive of him after almost two decades. The 53-year-old shared that “most guys” who watch the show have told him and Rasheeda has helped them through their relationship. He said he never realized the kind of “healing” it created for other people’s marriages.
Fans in the comments section applauded Rasheeda for opening up and sharing her truth to reconcile her marriage after various obstacles. She was also praised for not listening to the opinions of others on matters of the heart.
“It’s their marriage at the end of the day.”
“If you say so, sister.”
“She’s right. And if I had to endure that, I don’t want to.”
“No, Rasheeda, you only condone Kirk and his Kirking ways.”
“Trauma bonding at its finest.”
While Kirk and Rasheeda serve as inspiration to many, others cannot forget the experiences he inflicted on her. The “boss chick” was pregnant with her second son, Karter, during the second season of “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta.” Meanwhile, Kirk was caught cheating in a hot tub with a former castmate benzinoa rapper, along with two women.
The Frosts worked things out, but things went haywire after Rasheeda found out about Kirk’s reported affair with a woman named Jasmine Washington, who gave birth to a boy in 2016. Kirk and Rasheeda split the following year, but announced they would try their marriage again for the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta reunion.
Fans understood Rasheeda’s decision to forgive Kirk’s cheating. But many felt they couldn’t get over being with a man who welcomed a child outside of their marriage.
One person said: “I can understand that she stayed by cheating. Even if I won’t and never have. But a side baby? No, ma’am.”
Another wrote: “I KNOW I won’t take it if MY HUSBAND has a secondary BABY. You know you cry at night. God bless.”
A third person added, “No one should take relationship advice from Rasheeda and Kirk. I am sorry.”
