Fans are blaming Alan Wake 2 Oh Deer Diner Thermos for a digital-only title

Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy Entertainment announced a new collectible that fans of the series will soon be able to get their hands on: the Oh Deer Diner Thermos. While the thermos itself appears to be well-made and is the result of a partnership between two well-known Finnish companies, Remedy and Airam, it’s obvious to all fans that this is a physical collectible for a game that doesn’t have a physical version gives.

Fans have used the comment sections wherever they can find the Oh Deer Diner Thermos announcement to express their confusion and disappointment. They have already been very clear on how badly they want a physical version of Alan Wake II which Remedy says will not be released to keep costs down for consumers and are confused as to how a physical product will be, but no CD, can be justified version of the game.

Alan Wake 2 is getting a collectible coffee thermos, though the physical version is too expensive to produce

Shortly after Alan Wake 2 was shown at the recent PlayStation Showcase event, Remedy released an extensive FAQ to answer fans’ questions. Details included that Alan Wake 2 will be a digital-only game, a decision Remedy made to keep costs low for consumers, as the old price was $60 instead of $70 , which more and more companies are demanding.

However, today’s announcement of the Oh Deer Diner thermos, developed in collaboration with Airam, a Finnish lighting company, has caused fans to reconsider the fact that there is no physical version of Alan Wake 2. Although the details of the partnership are unknown, fans are quite concerned clearly on social media. One user said: “Look, you can craft physical things. Now apply this to creating a physical version of Alan Wake II.” Another added, “So you made a physical Oh Deer thermos, but you can’t create a physical copy of Alan Wake 2? Speaking of priorities”.

Alan Wake is a popular franchise, and for every other comment complaining that a digital-only release can keep costs down while still selling a collector’s coffee thermos, there’s one who has Remedy to thank and expresses joy about this product. Coffee thermoses were one of the key collectibles in the original Alan Wake, and this release hits the nostalgia trail for hardcore fans.
