Bernard Tomic has won 10 consecutive tennis matches and two tournaments without dropping a set, but his world rankings are still hovering in the 600s.
The 29-year-old defeated Moldovan Alexander Cozbinov 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in Cancun on Sunday, his second ITF title in the Mexican city in less than a month.

The former Wimbledon quarterfinalist, who finished 17th globally in 2016, has gained momentum since he was relegated to the entry-level ITF Tour in August.
Tomic’s ranking has improved by about 150 places to 659 in the world during this time.
He would need to return and thrive on the ATP’s higher-rated Challenger Tour to make steps toward a return to the top-100 rankings for the first time since August 2019.
Following the win, Tomic, who turns 30 later this month, took to Instagram to thank his supporters.
He also said: “There are no secrets to success. It requires: preparation, hard work, and learning from your mistakes.”
While that message seemed to indicate that Tomic was showing a delayed degree of maturity, he let himself down with another message on his Instagram story.
“Thank you again for your support. Screw the haters, I’ll prove them wrong.”
