Explosion at Bairnsdale Secondary College: Victorian student flown to hospital with serious injuries

A student at a high school in the Victoria region was seriously injured after an explosion at the school.
A male student at Bairnsdale Secondary College is receiving medical treatment after a fuel drum explosion around 11.20am on Wednesday, the Country Fire Authority (CFA) said.
The teenager suffered severe burns to his upper body, according to Ambulance Victoria.

He was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
“Other students and staff will be supported,” an Education Department spokesman told 7NEWS.com.au.
According to a statement from Headmistress Trudie Nagle, the incident was quickly contained.
“There is no danger to students or staff and classes continue as normal.”
