BALTIMORE (WJZ) – A five-story coal bunker in Curtis Bay is believed to have been hit by an explosion late Thursday morning, shaking nearby homes and businesses.
The Baltimore Fire Department said the explosion apparently occurred just before noon in the 1900 block of Benhill Avenue. The union said hazardous materials crews and special rescue units were at the scene.
Additional details were not immediately available, but the WJZ newsroom was flooded with reports of explosions being discovered in several nearby areas.
Residents are advised to stay away from this area.
