Expert Predictions for the NFL’s Thursday Night Football Game – The Athletic

If the Colts miss the playoffs, last week’s 34-31 extra-time loss to the Titans would be a big reason why. Indianapolis took a 14-point lead, fell behind, and recovered twice before Carson Wentz interception set Tennessee’s opening goal in extra time. This game cannot be won. Derrick Henry was held up to 68 yards of javelin, and the Titans committed 11 penalties for 161 yards. But Wentz’s two interceptions could not have been worse, and the Colts dropped out of the race. Most teams want to give their best players as many touches as possible, and that’s not the case. Jonathan Taylor for whatever reason. However, bookmakers love the Colts this week, as they open as a 10.5-point favorite over the Jets.
Except maybe New York has Colts right where they want it. The Jets closed as the underdog by 11.5 points last week and came back to beat the Bengals 34-31. Yes, the Bengali beat Baltimore two weeks ago. Mike White was the revealer for the foul, edging past the Cincinnati defense for 405 yards of pass and three touchdowns in his first start. Michael Carter also had his best performance to date in his rookie year, hitting 172 yards of script and a rushed touchdown. If you’re not sold in an encore gig for White, here’s a good alternative. New York has had four games in a row finishing, while Indianapolis has done so in three of the past four competitions.

Yeah, the Jets were one of the worst teams in football all season. Mike White stirred something in them when they were upset about the Bengali people of Cincinnati. The headlines around the Colts aren’t much better. After a string of injuries to start the season, the Colts are finding themselves fitter, but the results aren’t showing on the field. I’m taking Jets +10.5 in this one. – Andrew DeWitt, Senior Sports Betting Editor
