Expecting Cam Akers to Thrive vs. Bucs Rush Defense is highly rated

Cam Akers’ return from tearing his Achilles tendon in training camp sounds like fiction.

After undergoing surgery on July 20, it is expected that the No. 1 car that will run back to the Los Angeles Rams will debut within the year. However, he was activated in Week 18 for the Rams and led the RB team for a split second in the Wild Card team’s win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Akers was sublime in victory on Monday night, dashing 55 yards on a 17-pass and performing this trick from Odell Beckham Jr.

In just his second season, Akers has proven himself to be a medical buff and a playoff gamer.

The Florida State product would be huge to counter the defenses of the floundering Buccaneers. The Rams are currently 2.5 points behind (-105) for a total of 49 at WynnBET Sportsbook. Can Akers help push the Rams to get nasty?

Tampa Bay is 14th in defensive EPA/Rush and success rate, per RBSDM. While the team’s defense has received a lot of credit this season, it has been just average in the second half of the season.

Akers has clearly ushered in another level of the Rams are back in action based on the likes of Sony Michel and Darrell Henderson Jr. at various points this season. The second-year professional had a game-breaking pace as a pass catcher and hit Matthew Stafford.

Let’s see if he can keep his upward trajectory following Sunday’s serious pre-season injury against Tampa Bay.
