Those talented people at Hero Collector – the very people who made all those incredible models (and accompanying book) of sci-fi spaceships – launched a truly unique book; An incredibly colorful and entertaining work based on Grudge’s illuminating cat vision of the USS Discovery.
“Star Trek: Discovery – The Book of Grudge“will be published on January 4, 2022, just weeks before the Season 4 finale of “Star Trek: Discovery”. to pre-order and it will cost $14.95 in the US and $19.95 in Canada.
This book features 96 pages of beautiful artwork by Walter Newton and brilliant photos (of a seemingly impatient Grudge) taken on the set of “Discovery”. Needless to say, Grudge’s book author and interpreter on this venture, Robb Pearlman, is a big fan of “Star Trek.”
“I remember, as a kid, I was mesmerized by the action and the aliens and the technology of the show. Pointy ears? That’s amazing! Blue skin and antennas? Take it!” Pearlman told Space.com. “The show is played in a mix of replays on my local New York station, especially on the weekends. And because it was – and is – the kind of show that can be enjoyed by generations, it it usually took place when my parents, grandparents and I were together.”
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Pearlman is a New York Times bestselling author with more than 35 books for adults and children. He specializes in pop culture, an area he considers lucky to have been able to make a career.
“I was a weird kid,” he laughs. “I’m lucky that, to some extent, I can make channel surfing and the internet part of my job! I’d rather call myself a pop culture writer than a critic, because because I’m not in this field to judge or criticize. Not everything is for me, that’s totally fine. There’s a lot out there to enjoy.”
Book’s cat Grudge is a Maine Coon – the largest domesticated cat breed and one of the oldest domesticated in North America – and is actually played by movie stars Leeu and Durban, two lookalike brother of a restaurant owner based in Palm Springs. named Michelle Smith and took turns playing this role.
Pearlman was presented with a unique set of problems in trying to understand and correctly interpret this giant cat from Kwejian. “You’re working with the hypothesis that Grudge is a cat. She’s, in fact, a queen,” Pearlman laughs.
“Grudge isn’t much of a talker and doesn’t get a lot of screen time either… I was able to glean a lot from her body language. Her tail wagging, a sigh, an eye roll. All of those things have volume if you know how to listen.”
This isn’t the first collaboration between this sci-fi franchise and the cat kingdom.Star Trek Cats, “”Star Trek: The Next Generation Cats” and “Star Trek: Cats of the USS Enterprise 2022 Wall Calendar“So there’s clearly a connection. In fact, Lieutenant Cmdr Data (Brent Spiner) owned a pussycat named Spot in ‘The Next Generation’.”
“Listen, I don’t want to start a skirmish here, but I don’t think Spot ever had a chance to harness the power of the Internet the way Grudge did,” Pearlman said.
As the ad says, Grudge is “sharper than the sharpest claw and more beautiful than a phaser explosion, [this book] Not only does Grudge give Grudge witty quotes, from space travel to the proper care and training of various alien species, it also includes ‘Star Trek’ inspired quotes and haiku meditation on her favorite things, including napping. “
