Ex-Raiders employee claims the sacking was in retaliation for hostile concerns about the work environment

Former Las Vegas Raiders president Dan Ventrelle claims he was fired on May 6 for reporting hostile concerns about the work environment to the team.

On Friday, May 6th, the Las Vegas Raiders released a statement on their social media accounts to update the NFL world that team president Dan Ventrelle “is no longer working with the Raiders organization,” which is only very much contained few details.

Shortly after the Raiders’ announcement, Ventrelle released a statement of its own through the Las Vegas Review Journalwhere he claimed he was fired for reporting concerns about a hostile work environment at the organization.

Ventrelle says in his statement that he reached out to team owner Mark Davis about the complaints, but says he was “dismissive and didn’t show the right level of concern.” He says he then went to the NFL with the complaints and was subsequently fired by the Raiders.

That Las Vegas Review Journal turned to Davis, who declined to comment on Ventrelle’s allegations.

“I’ve heard of[Ventrelle’s]testimony, but I’m not going to comment on it,” Davis said. “The only thing I want to clarify is that Dan Ventrelle was never president of the Raiders. He was always the interim president. He was never made president. The interim was always a temporary determination to determine whether or not he would be the (full-time) president. I want to be clear – he’s not the president of the Las Vegas Raiders. it never was I think there is a misunderstanding.”

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the team through ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez that they “recently became aware of these allegations and take them very seriously. We will investigate the matter immediately.”

Ventrelle was named team president last July after Marc Badain’s team took over. Prior to that, Ventrelle had been with the organization since 2003, serving as general counsel and executive vice president.
