Everything Everywhere All at Once directors sign deal with Universal

The Daniels hit the big time. The director couple behind Swiss army man and this year’s surprise hit, Everything everywhere at oncehave signed a five-year development deal with studio Universal nope‘s Jordan Peele is also a partner.
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the duo that directs The Daniels, have released their first feature film. Swiss army man 2016 via artistic indie distributor A24. The follow-up of the directors, Everything everywhere at once, released in March of this year, has proven to be the highest-grossing A24 film of all time, grossing more than $100 million at the worldwide box office to date. While their modest-budget performances have already been impressive, it’s likely that Universal will give them a slightly larger playground for their signature brand of weird comedy and righteous emotion.
Since its inception in 2012, A24 has garnered a cult following thanks to its strong films and reputation for slightly weirder, more outlandish genre projects than most studios produce. The studio releases movies and shows like, The Green Knight, Hereditary, midsummer, Ex Machina, The vvitch, Unpolished gems, The good byeand euphoria.
If The Daniels’ deal is similar to what other directors sign when they sign exclusive deals, it will give them the opportunity to develop and create new ideas and films under the Universal Studios banner while also producing films by other artists can good. The two have not yet revealed what their next project could be.
